Our Intermediate Robotics Program is designed for students who are ready to go beyond the basics and start thinking like real engineers.
Building on foundational skills, students dive deeper into advanced building techniques, structured programming, and strategic problem-solving using platforms like the VEX IQ Robotics System.
What Students Will Learn
This program challenges students to design smarter, more efficient mechanisms and robots while developing independence and technical confidence.
Students will:
- Build more complex robot systems with multiple mechanisms
- Apply advanced concepts like gear ratios, torque optimization, and structural design
- Develop stronger programming skills (autonomous behaviors, sensor integration)
- Analyze challenges and iterate on designs for better performance
- Work collaboratively while taking on more ownership of their projects
How It Works
- Schedule: 1–2 sessions per week (105–210 minutes)
- Group Size: Small teams for focused mentoring
- Experience Level: Prior robotics experience is recommended but not required.
Students are encouraged to think critically, test ideas, and improve their designs through real engineering cycles.
Why This Program Stands Out
- Moves beyond guided builds into independent problem-solving
- Prepares students for competitive robotics environments
- Builds persistence, resilience, and analytical thinking
- Provides a clear path toward high-level robotics opportunities
